Midnight Ramble Band saxophone player and horn-arranger, Jay Collins, will be the musical director for this special birthday tribute to Gregg Allman, Jay’s former boss. Jay was the longest-serving musician in The Gregg Allman Band, spending 15 years in the group (2001-2016) and was Gregg’s musical director for 7 of those years. Jay has assembled a great cast of players from the Hudson Valley and NYC, many of whom shared the stage with Mr. Allman and performed with various members of the Allman Brothers Band and it’s extended family. Expect to hear the rock classics originally written and performed by the ABB and by Gregg’s own group, along with a few rarer “album cut” Gregg tunes not often performed.
